AfriConnect specialises in providing Internet connectivity and application solutions to Africa and other developing areas of the world and is currently seeking to recruit Internet Technical Support personnel to support the company overseas operations.

Duties will include remote support of our client connections overseas, liaising with our network providers, administering our Linux servers in Telehouse, installation of computer networking and communications equipment, pre-configuring Linux servers, documentation, and assisting with appraisal of user requirements.

An applicant should have a degree (or equivalent) in a computer-related discipline and experience in the support and implementation of network solutions. Good knowledge of networking especially CISCO routers and switches, a working knowledge of Linux and network operating systems (Windows/Unix/BIND etc) is essential. Also a background in Internet delivery, including the use of VSAT technologies, is preferred.

Only people qualified to work in the UK/EC should apply for positions in our UK office. Only engineers already based, and with permission to work, in Zambia should apply for opportunities in our Zambian offices.

The positions are based in Cambridge(UK) or our offices in Zambia and remuneration will be related to experience. Any applicant may be expected to undertake international travel and to help provide support over our customer time zones in liaison with their colleagues. The company is based near Cambridge and offers a flexible working environment.
